How it works,or, the 123/ABC guide

Stage 1.1…Getting the information.

You email us or phone (01424 863 865) and tell us you want a website.

We email back, to arrange your Free 45min Consultation, and to ask you to fill in the Website Planning Guide.

Stage 1.2…Setting out dates and pages, money etc.

we’ll have a detailed look and get back to you with an estimate of the timescale, and any extras you might need, (hosting, photos; all the little things that you don’t want as a shock at the end.)

we’ll also estimate how many and what pages you’ll need, so we can all start working on getting the information together to put on the web site.

Once you’ve agreed, we ask for a 50% deposit so we can start work. You can pay using PayPal here. The deposit is 100% refundable if you change your mind for any reason.

Stage 1.3…Getting the domain name and hosting.

If you need a domain name (the www.yourbusiness.co.uk name) we will suggest some you might like and which are available.

We will advise you how to register the domain name and buy the hosting, or we can do it for you, (see Hosting).

It can take up to 72 hours for a domain name to propagate, which is computer speak for ‘start working’, so this is a good time to get this done.

If, or when you agree, we proceed.
Stage 2…Choosing theme and banner.

Now we’ll:

Suggest a few themes, or,

Make a theme for you,

Design a banner, (the bit at the top with the name in).

we send these to you for your input and comments, and then:

Change/revise the chosen theme as asked.

Change/revise the banner as asked.

(We think 3 versions, the original and two revisions is about right, and fair.)

When you agree, we proceed.
Stage 3…Doing the Words, Pictures & Functions.

We’ll ask you to give us the words you want on the site, (according to the estimate of pages in Stage 2), or a guide to the words, if we are writing the copy.

We’ll send you a polished version for your comments, and then change/revise as asked.

We’ll send copies of pictures we think could be used, as well as costs. As with the copy after your input we will change/revise as asked.

We’ll put functions like contact forms, antivirus checker, database backups etc in as agreed, and test them.

(We think 3 versions, the original and two revisions is about right, and fair. With the pictures, once agreed and bought, the fees are not negotiable or refundable.)

You agree, we proceed.
Stage 4…Putting it all together time.

We put the agreed copy, with the pictures, the banner and the functions into the theme, and show you.

Now we know things look different when all together, and there are bound to be some changes you’d like, so:

We change/revise as asked.

You agree, again, and we proceed.
Stage 5…Saying “Hello World” with your site.

We do a final check that all the pages are working, that a backup has been made, forms are working, and there are no unforeseen grumlins.(joke).

We do a final check to make sure you are happy.

We make sure that, if you want one, you have a copy of our very useful guide.

We settle up.

We hand over passwords, copyright and any usage rights so everything is yours and yours alone.

And, finally, you agree in writing and we transfer all to you. (But we will still be here to help, and to fix stuff if you press the wrong buttons.)
